Terms of Service

Plain terms for a careful service.

Effective June 2026. These terms govern your use of Sieve. They are deliberately short. If anything is unclear, ask before relying on it.

1. The service

Sieve validates email addresses: syntax, domain and mailbox checks, deliverability reporting, and related tooling (bulk jobs, monitoring, the API, the embeddable widget and AI-assisted analysis). Verdicts are evidence-based assessments, not guarantees: mail systems are probabilistic, and a deliverable verdict cannot promise that any given message will be accepted or read.

Free-mail providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud) are never probed at the mailbox level and catch-all domains receive a confidence score rather than a definitive answer. We say so in the product wherever it applies.

2. Your account and acceptable use

You are responsible for activity under your account and API keys. Keep credentials secret; rotate a key immediately if you suspect exposure.

You may only validate addresses you have a lawful basis to process. Sieve must not be used to build or clean lists for spam, to harvest or enumerate mailboxes you do not own a relationship with, or in violation of anti-spam law (PECR, CAN-SPAM, the UAE PDPL or equivalents in your jurisdiction). We may suspend accounts that threaten the integrity of our probing infrastructure or other users' service.

3. Plans, credits and billing

Paid plans and credit packs are billed through Paddle, our merchant of record. Credits never expire. Monthly live-verification allowances reset each calendar month and unused allowance does not roll over.

Cancelling a subscription stops future renewals; your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Refunds follow Paddle's buyer terms together with applicable consumer law.

4. Your data

Uploaded addresses are encrypted at rest, never sold, and never pooled across customers or used to build shared marketing datasets. The one exception is the optional AI tools you choose to run (the contact finder and outreach drafter), which send the sampled addresses to the third-party AI and search providers listed on the Privacy page. Suppression-list entries are stored only as irreversible salted hashes.

You can delete any job, wipe all data, or delete your entire account from the Account page at any time. Financial records (credit grants, billing events) are retained as required for tax and audit obligations. See the Privacy page for the full commitments.

5. Service quality

We work hard to keep validation accurate and the service available, but Sieve is provided "as is" without warranty of uninterrupted operation or fitness for a particular purpose. Live SMTP probing can be paused when our probe infrastructure's health requires it; the product tells you honestly when a verdict was made without it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid Sieve in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

6. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
